Time & Location

04 June 2024, 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm AEST

RACV City Club, 501 Bourke St, Melbourne VIC 3000, Australia

About the event

The roundtable will be co-facilitated by:

  • Jenni Harding, Managing Director, Harbridge Optimal Performance
  • Andrew Proebstl, former Chief Executive, legalsuper

1. Setting the scene (12.00pm – 12.20pm)

Jenni & Andrew will make some opening observations about the current and future landscapes to set the scene for the roundtable’s discussion.

Drivers

  • Costs/scale
  • Regulator pressure to merge
  • Continuous increase in compliance and member service burden combined with an expectation that costs/fees be kept down
  • Member experience
  • Playing to strengths (not trying to compete with the behemoths via internal service offerings)
  • Minimising risk
  • Raising standards
  • Best practice (from efficient/effective to positively deviant)
  • Wholistic approach
  • Points of difference
  1. Competitive advantage
  2. Able to be nimble relative to the behemoths
  3. Closer to members
  4. Cost savings

2. Informal lunch (12.20pm – 12.40pm)

3. Break-out workshop (12.40pm – 1.20pm)

The attendees will break into two groups, facilitated by Jenni and Andrew.

Group #1: Which services lend themselves to being delivered via a collective service capability? Which don’t lend themselves to being delivered via a collection service capability and why?

Group #2: Challenges and opportunities for smaller funds over the next decade in the landscape of increasing challenge by regulators and growing competition from the mega funds.

4. Feedback from break-out workshops (1.20pm – 1.40pm)

The groups will report back to the full group with findings and issues arising to be discussed.

5. Next steps (1.40pm – 2.00pm)

Having regard to the findings of the roundtable, gauge the interest of attendees in progressing the opportunities arising from discussion at the roundtable.

We look forward to welcoming you to a fruitful roundtable discussion and workshop.
